Les 2 Alpes Opening For Summer Season

The ski lifts at Les 2 Alpes will be operating again from today Saturday 21 June to Saturday 30 August 2014, joining fellow French resorts Tignes, Val d’Isere and Alpe d’Huez as well as ski areas in Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, Canada and the US in offering summer glacier skiing in the northern hemisphere.

The resort reports fresh snow during its near two month spring closure means there are excellent conditions on the glacier for summer skiing.  Of the snow there are also new trails opening for mountain biking and a jam packed calendar of events.

Les 2 Alpes offers the largest skiable glacier in Europe situated at 3600m and it is set to host around 1,500 skiers and snowboarders a day following good spring precipitation. The glacier is also a magnet for ski professionals who come to train here in the summer. There are always plenty of slalom courses set up and for the freestylers there is an 18 hectare snow park for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Away from the snow there around 40 activities available to visitors, both on the mountain and in the village. These include trail running, hiking in the heart of the Ecrins National Park, paragliding , golf (9 holes), bungee jumping , karting, beach volleyball, trampolining, mountain boarding, scooter descent, archery , summer toboggan run and tennis. Plus the other big activity in Les 2 Alpes, mountain biking, which attracts over 35,000 bikers to the resort’s trails.
