The price being asked for a minimum two week holiday at Chalet Edelweiss in Courchevel 1850 has topped half a million Euros, believed to be the biggest price yet asked for a chalet holiday.

The 550,000 Euro price tag (about £435,000) is for a minimum fortnight stay over the Russian New Year holiday period from 3rd to 17th January, ironically this was once one of the real ‘low season’ weeks of the year following the most expensive traditional New Year week..

The top end prices being charged for luxury chalets has rocketed in recent seasons, particularly at Courchevel 1850, beloved by Russian oligarchs, where many of the most ‘uber-luxurious’ chalets are located.

The Edelweiss sleeps 16, features its own cinema, night club and vehicle lift and more than a dozen staff including two chefs and two butlers.

However Austria is not being left out of the picture with Chalet N in Lech asking for 490,000 Euros (£390,000) per week in peak weeks – much more per week than the Edelweiss.

Chalet N sleeps up to 22, monograms the initials of guests in to their pillow cases and has their favourite champagne waiting on ice on their arrival.

Both properties feature in the Luxury Chalet Collection an annual list of the top rental chalets in the skiing world made by experts The Oxford Ski Company, who have just released their 2014-15 season list, featuring 13 new additions for the coming season.

The Oxford Skiing Company are keen to stress that most of the properties attract far lower rental fees and even the two most expensive drop in price dramatically.
