Although plenty of couples have chosen to marry in the snow at spectacular mountain locations around the world, it’s not known if any have opted to marry on the indoor variety before.
If not, Stanley and Nettie Tang of Woodbridge, New Jersey, have carved out a slice of history, becoming the first couple to do so. They are certainly the first ever to exchange vows inside North America’s only indoor ski centre, Big SNOW, at the state’s American Dream Mall.
For the happy couple, the venue wasn’t just a novelty—it was deeply personal.
“We knew we wanted to do something different for our wedding,” Nettie explained. “We went to Big SNOW as one of our first dates and Stanley taught me how to snowboard there. We saw that Big SNOW did private events, and we just reached out and asked if it was possible. They were willing to accommodate all of our requests for the wedding and were so helpful in getting everything exactly as we wanted it.”
From the slopes to the ceremony, the couple’s love of snowboarding shaped every detail. Nettie credited her friends and the Big SNOW team for helping bring the day to life.
“I’m thankful to all the friends who helped set up and did my hair and makeup. All the staff were really helpful too and asked if they could help with anything,” she said. “I had an amazing time.”
The celebration also featured a playful twist.
“We both have a love for snowboarding and Pokémon,” Nettie said, adding, “So as a wedding favor, we designed our own ski socks and made personalized Pokémon cards for our guests.”
