La Plagne is the most popular ski area in the world. It has 225 km of pistes, accommodation in 11 villages, and since 2003 has been linked to the skiing in Plan Peisy/Les Arcs, via the double-decker Vanoise Express, to offer a total of 425kms of pistes and 130 lifts.

Ski Beat’s Laura Hazell says “La Plagne is our clients’ most popular resort. It’s not just the quality of homely, comfortable chalets and great skiing right on the doorstep that attracts skiers, but also the range of other activities that guests can enjoy that drives so many bookings each year.”

(Costs from 45 euros pp.)

HORSE DRAWN SKIING

  • Or try horse-drawn `skiing’ (ski joering) where a gentle four legged friend uses his horse power to tow participants on a rope through the snowy woodland paths. From 23 euros pp.

TRY SNOWMOBILING

  • Combine motorsports and snow to try snowmobiling through the villages that make up the wide plateau of La Plagne, set on a steep mountainside. Two can share for 99 euros or ride pillion with a guide for 45 euros pp.

DRIVE A PISTE BASHER

  • Ever wanted to know what it feels like to drive a piste-basher and groom the snow? For 60 euros per adult, for a 20 minute driving experience, this can be arranged in La Plagne, with children riding along for 30 euros pp. Adults receive a diploma to prove their new found skills.

After all this adrenaline-fuelled activity relax on the comfy sofas in front of a roaring fire at the warm, cosy Chalet Lily, a new chalet from Ski Beat this winter in Plagne centre.
