Japan’s best-known ski resort, Niseko, offers the quality and quantity of snow each year , with around 14 metres of snow falling each season. Look forward to ungroomed bowls and world-class tree runs (Strawberry Fields is amazing), while the Niseko Gates lead to unpatrolled terrain that’s best explored with a guide.

The ski pass covers the four interlinked areas above Niseko Village, Hirafu, Annupuri and Hanazono. There are groomed slopes for every level, as well as night skiing until 9 pm – go early to watch the sunset over Mt Yotei, it’s simply incredible. The best way to end your ski day is in a Japanese onsen (hot spring) and you’ll find the best choice in Hirafu or within the hotels.

Bars and restaurants are another highlight, with everything from pizzerias, izakayas (Japanese pubs) and gourmet restaurants, while the supermarket in Kutchan Town is best for self-catering.

A seven-night stay at the 3* Always Niseko, costs from £1,495 pp (saving £498 pp) based on two adults sharing a Niseko Room on B&B. Price includes flights and shared transfers. Book by 21 September 2019.
