The main town of Alpe d’Huez sits at 1869 metres above sea level at the centre of the Oisans region in the French Alps. The destination is fondly named by its advocates as “l’Isle du Soleil”, the Island of the Sun, due to its reputation for having the most days of sun on the ski slopes in a year.
This makes it one of the top destinations for skiing in March. After a sunny day on the slopes, La Folie Douce (the après ski place to be), will have visitors dancing on the tables to fantastic live entertainment and incredible DJ’s. This year, Alpe d’Huez is going to be home to the ‘Tomorrowland Winter’ festival, from 9th -16th of March, the winter version of the now legendary Tomorrowland festival. There must be something truly special about Alpe d’Huez to host such a spectacular festival along with so many trend-setting après sessions.
