Panorama Mountain Resort in British Columbia has opened after a $10m spend on upgrades over the summer. The resort reports its occupancy running at near capacity and that business is up, particularly from long haul destinations.
Nine of ten lifts including the New Discovery Quad chairlift are open with trails available for all abilities. The resort was booked to near full capacity at the weekend with celebrations organised for the opening of the mountain and the new Discovery Quad.
“On Opening Day the resort’s lodging was at 95% occupancy and the place is buzzing; it’s a marked contrast to what we saw on the same day last year,” said Marke Dickson, Panorama’s Sales and Marketing Director.
“Overall business volumes are pacing 10% ahead of last year and spectacular numbers are coming from long-haul markets like the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand and we’re ready for a really strong winter season,” said Steve Paccagnan, the resort’s President and CEO.
