Ski resorts always make an effort for April Fools Day, with French resorts trying particularly hard with their “poisson d’avril” then (5-8 hours later due to the time difference), US ones too.

Val d’Isère – Ski & Cheese Race

Kudos to Val d’Isère who have gone all out with their ‘Ski & Cheese’ race, chasing a Beaufort cheese rolling down the Face de Bellevarde emulating the British Gloucester cheese downhill chases. They trailled the ‘new event’ in late March and have created a full webpage complete with package to book and a promotional video.

Alta – Avalanche Rescue Porcupines (better than dogs apparently)

Les Sybelles – a new tunnel up to the slopes will save the annoyance of having to put chains on your car tyres.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, Mountain-top Water Park

Glencoe, Scotland – An impressive glass snowdome to offer ‘Forever Winter’

La Rosière – A new wall will stop the problem of strong winds closing the runs over the Italian border.
