Baqueira Beret, one of Spain’s best known resorts and certainly its most glamorous, celebrates its 50th winter this season and to celebrate has added new terrain which should make it the country’s largest again.

The resort is adding no fewer than 21 news runs equalling 26km of new groomed terrain to takes its tally to 92 pistes.   Baqueira Beret has also added a further 7km of off-piste itineraries and a new freeride route to claim a total 153km of piste.  The new terrain also adds 240 hectares of terrain taking the ski area to 2166 hectares.

Three new lifts have also been installed which together take the resort’s uplift past the 60,000 skiers per hour mark.  The new Jesus Serra quad chairlift replaces the old Vista Beret chairlift and connects  Orri with Beret in a quick and comfortable manner.  There are also new button drag lifts at Saumet giving access to four new black expert pistes and a second new button drag lift Stadium located very close to the  Dera Reina chairlift and running parallel to it up to 2,222m altitude. It is open to all skiers but has been specifically designed for those who train at Beret’s Stadium.

Founded in 1964, Baqueira Beret will host a series of events and attractions throughout the season to celebrate it’s big 5-0.
