Alpe d’Huez says it will complete snowmaking on the full 16km length of its black run down from the resort’s Sarenne glacier in time for the start of next winter on December 6th, 2014

The 10 mile long run is officially the world’s longest pisted black descent.  Speaking about the snowmaking, a resort spokesperson said,

“Particular care has been made to design specialized snow making equipment that produces artificial snow in a reasonable and environmentally friendly way. Everything has been carefully thought out to harmoniously blend the equipment into the surrounding landscape.”

Among those attempts to keep everything normal and natural, the snowmaking lake is open to trout fishermen in the summertime.
