Prince Harry has interviewed the two-time snowboarding Olympic gold medallist Chloe Kim as part of a series for mental health venture Better Up, for which the prince is Chief Impact Officer.

Following the Beijing Olympics earlier this year Kim said she was prioritizing her mental health by taking a break from competing.

“If I’m not feeling good mentally, then it will jeopardize my physical health and they go hand in hand. And, so, for the past couple of years, I’ve just been prioritizing that, listening to my body and I’m in such a better place,” Kim told Prince Harry.

“It would be unrealistic for me to expect to go out there and land an amazing run, learn a new trick if I wasn’t feeling good mentally and I can’t expect myself to perform at my peak when I’m doubting myself and I’m feeling negative emotions.”

Kim said in separate interviews that she is taking the 22-23 season off to take stock and “enjoy this moment” but that the longer-term plan is to return and go for a third medal. She did the same after the 2018 Olympic Games.

Prince Harry moved to California in 2020 and credits his wife Meghan with encouraging him to go to therapy.
