Austria has had some of the best snowfall in Europe this winter and that has continued through March with some big snowfalls last week and more expected from this coming weekend.
It has been warm and sunny this week though with no fresh snow since last Friday and the weather has been ‘spring like’ and a little too warm on lower slopes, but it is expected to get colder with the new snow arriving.

Most areas should get 30-60cm of new snow at the weekend if the forecasts prove correct. The Arlberg region, above, is expecting 40-50cm.
At higher elevations conditions are excellent on the piste and bases are good across most of the country.
The Kaunertal glacier, which got 70cm of snow last week, has the deepest base in Austria at 375cm, it’s a glacier with skiing through spring so plenty of the season lift.
