Where To Ski or Board In France After Easter 2017

It has been a largely sunny week in France with glorious days on the slopes – so long as you can get up high and can accept the fact that we’re coming up to mid-April so you’re not going to get mid-winter type conditions.

Instead it classic spring skiing with the snow frozen hard overnight, softening to perfection from around 10am to 1pm then turning soft by early-mid afternoon.  So it’s important to time your breaks to maximise slope time when conditions are good.

And the higher you are the better, ideally on slopes above 2000m, below that and there’s less snow, more slush.

There has been no real fresh snow to talk about, it has been too warm, and mostly sunny skies.  Some forecasters are expecting a return to more wintery conditions next week though.

Bases are generally still good for the final weeks of the season with resort starting to close en-masse from this Easter Sunday afternoon although some like Val d’Isere and Val Thorens will stay open to the start of May.
