Scotland’s Kirsty Muir launched the 2025/26 FIS Freeski World Cup season with a dazzling victory in the women’s Big Air at the Secret Garden resort in China earlier today.
The 21-year-old from Aberdeen produced a commanding display, opening with a left double cork 1440 safety that scored 91.25 points – the highest mark of the women’s competition. She backed it up with a right double cork 1080 mute for 80.25, already enough to secure the win, before adding a stylish third run worth 83.25 to close out the contest. Her combined total of 174.50 left her comfortably ahead of the field.
“I was in it today to get my tricks down,” Muir reflected afterwards. “I wanted to just focus on the tricks, the result was just the end outcome. Overall I’m just so, so happy with how I skied – that’s what I’m going to take away from this.”
The victory marks Muir’s second consecutive World Cup triumph, following her breakthrough win in Tignes at the end of last season. Back-to-back golds now cement her status as a genuine contender for overall honours in the months ahead.
Canada’s Naomi Urness claimed silver with 165.75, her first career podium, while China’s Liu Mengting delighted the home crowd with bronze on 165.25.
