Pra Loup, one of the most southerly French resorts, best reached from Nice airport, celebrates its 50th anniversary this winter. The centre in the southern Alps was established more than 25 years after a study in the 1930s concluded it was a good location for a ski resort.
Last January the resort installed a new gondola, Molanès, and this season there’ll be a new six-eater chair to Peguiéou.
The 8.3 million Euro POMA-built chairlift will be 2436m long with a vertical climb of 597m, It will have 21 towers and 108 seats (for the first year) and 128 in the longer term. The journey time is less than eight minutes . The initial capacity will be 2,500 passengers per hour and will eventually rise to 3,000 passengers per hour .
