Norfolk Snowsports Club has begun a significant upgrade of its nursery slope as part of a wider spring–summer maintenance programme, installing a new Proslope dry slope surface designed to transform the experience for first‑time skiers and snowboarders.
The project marks a strategic investment in what the club describes as “the very first turns” …the crucial early stage where confidence, technique and enjoyment are shaped.
The new surface is designed to offer a smoother, more consistent ride than older dry slope materials, helping newcomers build confidence more quickly and with less effort. It should also mean easier sliding, which is often one of the biggest initial challenges on artificial slopes.
According to Proslope, the material also requires less water and is easier to maintain through the warmer months, as well as being durable enough for year-round use.
Upgrades like this are part of a broader trend across UK slopes to improve facilities and make snowsports more accessible, especially at entry level, where attracting new participants is key to the sport’s future.
With the work completed ahead of the next busy period, the club is aiming to provide a more enjoyable and accessible introduction for new skiers and snowboarders.
