Laax Glacier to Open This Weekend

26 Oct 11

This Saturday, 29 October 2011, sees the winter season kick off in Laax in the Swiss Alps with the opening of the Vorab Glacier.  Following decent snowfall over the past few days combined with a sunny outlook conditions are set to be perfect.

Earlier than planned, the lifts up to the glacier will be open every weekend from 08.30-16.30.  The resort will then be open daily from 3 December 2011.

Laax is just 90mins from Zurich and takes in the mountains around the villages of Flims, Laax and Falera.  The area covers 100sq km with 220km of pistes, 28 ski lifts and 70% of the ski area is between 2,000-3,000m, reaching 3,018m on the Vorab Glacier (one of the highest points in the Graubunden region). Known for being a snow sure destination, Laax also benefits from over 25km of snow cannon runs.

Ski Safari (www.skisafari.com, 01273 224 060) offers 2 nights at Hotel Adula from £425 per person based on two people sharing a superior double room.  Price includes flights on easyJet departing Gatwick to Zurich and rail transfers.
