One of the more southerly and in the Hakuba Valley, particularly in terms of its atmosphere and clientele, Kashimayari Snow Resort Family Park is a great choice for those looking to avoid the usually more crowded resorts. Everyone feels welcome here and the centre also has a reputation for its beautiful scenic views from the slopes.
There are 12 ski runs, 40% of them suited to beginners, 45% to intermediate-level skiers and 15% to advanced skiers. Runs are up to 4.1km (2.5 miles) long over a 720 metre vertical. The skiing is ideal for families and those looking for a more laid-back experience. Advanced skiers will probably have the limited steep terrain and tree skiing to themselves.
Kashimayari boasts three restaurants and there is on-mountain accommodation available. It is perfect for people who want to stay overnight and enjoy the hot springs (onsen). The restaurants are only open during the day and as there are no other restaurants in the surrounding area, in-house guests have to use their rental car to visit nearby restaurants or dinner and breakfast can be arranged by reservation at the ski resort.
Other big attraction includes Japan’s longest snow tubing course, at 500m, which opened in 2020 and is a must-do!
