Cortina is the ski area that normally gets the most snowfall in the Hakuba Valley, and as all resorts in the region typically get lots of fabulous, light, powder, that means a lot of snow. It’s a big draw for powder lovers, particularly as expert skiers also love its steeper terrain, tree skiing and easy access to its off-piste terrain. The only downside to that is that everyone who knows the Hakuba Valley’s ski areas knows this so it can get busy on the best powder days when most head here. The tree skiing makes it a good choice on stormy weather days too with lots of sheltered terrain.
Cortina is not just for experts though. When it comes to the groomed runs only 40% is rated advanced with 30% intermediate and 40% beginner with runs up to 3.5km (over two miles) long and with many skiers and riders heading into the backcountry these slopes can be among the quieter in the Valley. It’s one of the Valley’s smaller ski areas but is linked to Hakuba Norikura Ski Resort which extends the options.
