The Alpine Rockfest, which brings together some of the world’s greatest ski racers competing to win a big cash prize, and an après-ski rock concert just before Christmas is back for 2014.

Staged at Paganella ski area above the Italian village of Andalo, Trentino, this exciting innovation in ski racing was first staged in 2009 where Cyprien Richard of France defeated the best Olympic Skiers in the World to win the largest single cash price in skiing history.

The Rockfest format consists of twenty top Olympic ski stars racing through four successive rounds of Sprint Giant Slalom, with five athletes being eliminated in each round. The final “Winner‐ Takes‐All” round involves the last five athletes, competing for a 75,000 Euro prize.

Last year’s winner was American Ted Ligety, who also won in 2011.  He was competing against 19 more of the world’s best including Aksel Lund Svindal, Bode Miller, Dominik Paris and Christoph Innerhofer.
