As a winter of mixed-fortunes in terms of snow conditions in most areas of the skiing world nears its conclusion, the final week of March has already delivered, or is about to deliver, a final wintry blast and a good deal of snowfall for most ski regions.

Parts of The Alps, at least higher slopes, have seen 20-40cm accumulations over the past few days and there’s a lot more forecast, particularly on Wednesday-Thursday, with some areas likely to see a metre of snowfall accumulate on high terrain by Easter Sunday …if those forecasts prove correct!

Lech, Davos, Saalbach and Verbier have posted 25-35cm accumulations so far.

Ski areas across Eastern Europe have also seen fresh snow up high with more forecast (the Czech Republic’s leading ski resort Špindlerův Mlýn is pictured above on Monday) and the Pyrenees should see some snowy weather too. In Scandinavia, Voss on Norway’s coast reported over a foot of snowfall through the weekend.

Across the Atlantic ski areas on both East and West Coasts have posted up to a metre of snowfall in the past week, the heaviest snowfall over the past weekend, so its powder conditions right across the continent’s ski slopes at present.

Stowe in Vermont on the East US Coast is pictured top on Sunday, Sunshine near Banff in Western Canada below, also on Sunday.
