Candide Skis, the brand founded by iconic freerider Candide Thovex, whose films are watched by  tens of millions, has returned to its roots, partnering with La Clusaz, the resort where it all began.

It’s a natural match: a mountain that thrives on boldness, and a brand that embodies it.

“More than a collaboration, it’s a celebration of creativity and freedom—“not something you explain, it’s something you live,” a resort statement explains.

Last season, La Clusaz honours its local hero with a new black run carved into the Balme Massif, the very slopes where Candide first learned to ski.

Untamed yet secure, the track mirrors his signature style: daring, playful, original. Seven markers, placed in collaboration with Candide, guide skiers along this tribute trail.

“I learned to ski at Balme, and Balme taught me everything. This mountain shaped my skiing. I am honoured to see a part of Balme bear my name, and I want to thank La Clusaz for this recognition,” said Candide.

From the legendary Candide Invitational to global acclaim, his influence has helped define La Clusaz as a freeskiing mecca. Now, his name joins the resort’s hall of fame—etched into the mountain that shaped him, inspiring generations to follow in his fearless tracks.
