Where to Ski or Board Good Snow in Canada and the USA Over Christmas Week

What a December is has been in North America with some huge snowfalls both north and south of the US Canada border and on the East and West coasts of the continent.

More resorts passed the 3m/10 foot snow base depth mark in the past few days and Mt Baker in Washington State has now had more than double that amount (over 6m/20 feet) of snow fall this winter.

The really big snowfall numbers where we’re seeing figures like a metre of snow in a week, or in some cases in only 48-72 hours are coming from Western ski areas like Mammoth, Whistler (pictured above and video below), Jackson Hole and Fernie, but the great thing is that snow is falling pretty abundantly in the East too (so often it is either one side or the other, not both) with resorts in New Hampshire, Vermont and New York State as well as Quebec to the north all posting big numbers.

Whistler has the deepest snow in Canada at 1.8m (six feet), Revelstoke has had the most snow there in the last week – 50cm.

In the US Jackson Hole has had the most snow in the last week – 103cm, and Mammoth has the deepest base at 213cm.

Lots more snow forecast in the coming week.  Aspen pictured below…
