A 34 year old civil servant from the Wirral who indoor ski centre Chill Factore dubbed ‘the UK’s worst skier’ in a contest to offer intensive lessons to whoever they decided needed them most, has successfully skied the centre’s main run.
Emma, who described herself as an ‘eternal beginner’ and claimed to experience palpitations while skiing, had an eight-hour Beginner Day Lesson at the Manchester centre, having previously failed to learn to ski on three ski holidays, even though her husband Stuart works as a ski instructor.
“I can’t believe how much progress I’ve made in one day. I was a nervous wreck at the start of the day and I can’t believe I’ve just made it all the way down without falling over,” said Emma, “I’m going away to Courchevel in April and can now honestly say I’m looking forward to it – for the first time I’ll be able to join in properly with my family, which is what it’s all about.”
“Skiing is all about being relaxed and enjoying yourself, and I think Emma has finally cracked it today,” said Emma’s instructor for the day, Ron Westhead, “At Chill Factore we guarantee that newbies will be able to learn how to ski or snowboard competently after just eight hours of tuition, and I’m thrilled that Emma has finally been able to banish her ski demons.”
