Tignes, one of three French ski resorts still offering summer glacier skiing and boarding, is to run a special snowsports camp for teenagers this July.

Open to children aged 12 years or older, the summer camp brings together riders from across Europe and is coached by Swiss pro-riders Laurent Demartin and Sampo Vallotton

Young freestylers (ski and snowboard) will alternate freestyle ski lessons on the glacier in the morning with outdoor activities in the afternoon, including water jumping, skateboarding, mountain biking, trampoline, slackline, canoeing, stand-up paddle and swimming.

“Daily videos will be screened by the two freestyle stars to correct technique and help participants to progress rapidly both on skis and in the air,” a Tignes spokesperson said.

The camp will run from 14th to 21st July 2018 and costs €715 with accommodation or €385 without accommodation.

The Grand Motte glacier at Tignes will be open for snowsports for six week from June 23rd to August 5th this year with lifts running between 7.15asm and 1pm.  20km of runs are open, accesses from the resort base by the underground funicular in seven minutes. The resort reports it received a much greater than average 8.5 metres of snowfall during the winter meaning, they say, summer conditions on the glacier will be excellent.  Ski school lessons are also available throughout the six week opening period.
