The Ski And Tartiflette Package

Although France is known for its big ski areas, many people are also attracted to its cheesy cuisine too and this winter Val d’Arly in the heart of Savoie Mont Blanc region is launching a package that combines the two.

Their new “Ski and Tartiflette” package, available for holidays booked between New Year week and the February School Holidays (2/1-6/2/21) combines a week’s self-catering apartment holiday, a 6-day ski pass for the huge Espace Diamant ski area and a tartiflette meal to be enjoyed in a local restaurant on your return from the slopes.

The tartiflette dinner will of course be made with the famous Reblochon cheese sourced from farms in the area and includes salad and dessert.

The package costs from 238 euros per person (approximately £215) for 4 adults (excludes travel).

For those unfamiliar with Val d’Arly, this winter might be the perfect time to discover the four authentic villages: Crest-Voland/Cohennoz, Flumet/St Nicolas la Chapelle, Notre Dame de Bellecombe and La Giettaz en Aravis that make up the valley and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Although small, authentic resorts, the first three villages are part of the Espace Diamant ski area. Set among forests and alpine meadows – and with stunning views of the Mont Blanc, Beaufortain and Aravis ranges – the Espace Diamant ski area has 192km of slopes with a varied terrain.

Val d’Arly is not just an area for tourists to come skiing in the winter. It is a valley where people live all year long. Many inhabitants have several jobs.  For example, at La Ferme de Victorine, one of the finest restaurants in Val d’Arly, restaurateur Raymonde Vinet is also director of the ESF Notre Dame de Bellecombe.  Many ski instructors are also farmers.

Travellers from the UK to France currently have to self-isolate for two-weeks on their return to the UK and travel insurance may not be valid.  It is unknown how the rules will be by January 2021.  Bookings made via the Val d’Arly Booking Centre will be totally refunded if the cancellation is related to Covid-19, the ski centre says (all the details are online).
