North America has three different areas of snow cover with very different conditions in each.

In the West the snowfall continues at an amazing pace, as it has done for three straight months, with ski resorts in California and Utah reporting up to six feet (1.8m) more snow in the past week, Colorado areas and Western Canada more like 30-40cm (12-16 inches).

Then in the North East cover in Quebec, Vermont, Maine and parts of New Hampshire, although there has been no fresh snow, cover remains good with 90 – 150m snow bases in most resorts.

These two regions cover 99% of the international destination resorts in the US but along the southern boundary of North America’s ski regions from West to East Coast, and in the Midwest, after a snowy start to the winter it has been unseasonably warm with snow thawing, rain and some resorts announcing early closure.  Cold weather has now returned though and snowmaking systems operational.
