Over 150,000 UK teachers have recently signed a government petition to demand that holiday companies stop charging extortionate prices during school-holiday time. This means that the issue must be considered for debate in The House of Commons.
Until then, The Chalet Company is offering a discount of 25% to all UK teachers and a further discount of 10% to family members and friends of teachers during the Easter 2015 School holidays. The 25% discount will reduce the cost of a ski holiday for teachers by as much as £112.50.
“Everyone knows that teachers don’t get paid enough for what they do, let alone enough to meet the staggering prices they are charged during holiday time, so we wanted to show them our appreciation by offering them a discount for a stay with the Chalet Company during the Easter holidays, ” said Phil Purdie, co-founder of The Chalet Company.
Prices are from £220 per teacher for a week’s catered accommodation in selected chalets in Meribel during the weeks of 28th March – 4th April and 4th – 11th April 2015 are for catered accommodation only, and do not include flights and transfers.
“This offer flies in the face of convention – and bucks the trend of price discrimination against snow-loving teachers and their families who are restricted to taking an annual visit to the slopes when school is out,” added Phil.
