Austrian slopes are in good shape after all the snow that fell here in the first few weeks of January.
The snowfall has all but stopped, and it has been very cold at times (-20C or colder in places), but things are looking very good on Austrian slopes under mostly sunny skies now there’s so much snow to ski and board on.

Almost all of the country’s ski areas are in good shape with a foot or two of snow at resort level and in most cases more than a metre of snow lying on the mountains. Only the South east of the country is suffering a natural snowfall shortage and relying on snow making, whilst ski areas in Salzburgerland and Tirol have deep snow cover.
There’s no clear sign of a big change in the weather before the start of February but currently things do look likely to become more unsettled next week.
