A gambling company is to run its first ever ski and poker festival. Taking place at Romania’s Sinaia ski resort in Romania from Feb. 12-18, the first ever Unibet Open Ski-edition will include a €1,100 Main Event, side events and lots of skiing action, the company reports.
The festival includes six nights at the resort and includes one poker-free day that players can use to ski Sinaia, which has 25km of slopes served by nine ski lifts located between 880-2,103m. In any case each day the Main Event won’t begin until 3pm to accommodate schedules of players who want to take to the slopes before gambling.
The event will be run in conjunction with PokerFest Romania, the same partner with whom they run the Unibet Open Bucharest festival. At the last Unibet Open Bucharest €1,100 Main Event, Russian player Anton Vinokurov bested a field of 592 to win the €103,060 top prize.
“In the age of the fast low-cost travel, the picturesque tourist destinations are rapidly gathering ground over the big cities, when it comes to poker festivals. The players have learned that poker is not only a game of cards, but also an experience. And it is this very experience which is the job of us, the organizers, to make it as pleasant and momentous as possible. The February festival in Sinaia will be exactly this: hot poker action in an old historical city and also one of the most renowned and splendid Romanian mountain resorts,” said PokerFest CEO Sorin Constantinescu.
