Zumba® Fitness On The Snow

Apparently, it’s the world’s latest favourite new fitness regime, and now, for what’s believed to be the first time ever, Zumba® Fitness is taking to the piste… in Manchester!

Manchester’s Chill Factore indoor snow centre believes Zumba on snow is three-times as effective as regular Zumba® for personal fitness, fusing the heat of Latin music with the ice-cold resistance of fresh snow. Classes work against the resistance of the snow giving participants a workout quite unlike anything else, as it forces a much higher range of movement in the lower body, making it perfect for toning lower and upper legs, and bottom. Classes cost £5 per session or £40 for a course of 10.

Due to the cold temperatures, the class will be tailored for higher intensity exercises, focusing on intense warm-ups to ready the body for exercise, and maintaining this status throughout the routine. Zumba® Fitness works in a similar way to interval training, where the body is constantly moving at different speeds in order to increase the experience.
Immediately after the main session, the muscles will be properly stretched and allowed to cool down so that the body can return to normal, and heart rates can slow down to a resting rhythm safely.

“Zumba® Fitness is the world’s most popular new fitness craze and we are delighted to be the first to launch this on snow” said Morwenna Angove, Chief Executive at Chill Factore.

“It’s a first not just for the city, the region or even the UK – but for the world. A true global first. We know it is going to become hugely popular and we expect it to be copied around the world once it takes off here.”

Amos De Roover, an experienced fitness and Latin dance coach is heading the classes, and says “The body has to work much harder in colder environments so the Zumba® Fitness on snow work-outs will prove to be a hugely beneficial cardio-vascular routine for people looking to improve their fitness. Working on snow means it takes longer for the muscles to get warm and has the added benefit of reducing the impact on the knee joints, so perfect for a wide range of fitness levels, ages and abilities in our safe, effective and very fun class.”

Zumba® Fitness was founded in the mid-1990s by Alberto “Beto” Perez, a celebrity fitness trainer and choreographer, and has become one of the fastest growing, dance-based fitness crazes ever.
