New ski slopes and improved snowmaking have been announced for the 2017/18 ski season at Jasná ski resort in the Slovak Republic’s Low Tatra mountains.

The northern side of Chopok will get a new ski run, christened Vrbická and 800m long. Ski Slope No 5, Turistická, will also be substantially expanded, a resort spokeswoman told local media.

The Jelení Grúň ski run, the oldest, DC Snowpark Jasná, and the Jasná Východ Centre have all also been updated and improved.

Last year the resort installed a new gondola with 15-seat cabins from Krupová to Kosodrevina, completing the connection between the southern and northern parts of the ski area. This winter, snow cover on the Chopok peak will be improved by a new snowmaking system with 16 new snow guns on the Zadné Dereše run.
