Snowsport England has launched a new Dry Slope Ambassador Programme, which will see eighteen talented skiers represent Snowsport England and competitive skiing at artificial slopes across the country, with the aim of recognising their talent, as well as allowing them to inspire the next generation of skiers.
Launched at two Club National races over the last two weekends, a selection of ambassadors joined Snowsport England representatives at Silksworth Ski Slope and Norfolk Ski Club to celebrate the launch of the scheme. (See attached pictures).
The eighteen ambassadors, who range from Under 16 to Under 21 athletes, will tour artificial slopes during the summer and next winter season, carrying out duties at races and competitions, as well as talking to younger competitors about skiing, and how hard they worked to become a ski racer. The athletes have been picked on their talents on the dry slope ski racing circuit, and as well recognising to their contribution to the sport, the scheme will also give them the chance to represent England in all the head to head races against other Home Nations.
Tania Barton, Snowsport England Director, said at the launch: “These young athletes will not only perform valuable logistical roles at the artificial slopes, they will also act as role models for younger skiers and hopefully inspire them to train hard on their local dry slopes and stay involved in the competitive skiing scene.
“Snowsport England has set up this scheme to recognise the achievements of our athletes and to ensure they are part of inspiring the next generation of skiers. They will also play a huge part in growing and sustaining the buzz of UK dry slope skiing and racing.”
