Mothers: Skiing Boost with Better, Affordable Facilities

It’s Mother’s Day this weekend in many parts of the world and where ski areas are still open, many are offering free or heavily discounted lift tickets to mums.

To tie in with Mother’s Day, Momtrends Media, which runs Momtrends.com and the Ski Moms Podcast and describes itself as, “the largest online community of ski moms” has carried out its first “ Ski Moms’ Happiness Survey” and found that ski resorts could do a lot more business if they improved facilities for families.

The comprehensive survey, conducted in the 2023-2024 ski season, included responses from over 1,000 ski-loving moms across the United States.

Even though the US is renowned for having some of the best family-friendly facilities in the ski world, the survey found that 94% of respondents said that they would ski or snowboard more often if there was access to affordable group lessons for their children.

It also found that 59% of respondents said that they have struggled to find a clean, quiet place to breastfeed while at a ski area and 87% of respondents replied that they would ski and ride more with access to on-mountain childcare.

“The results of the Ski Moms’ Happiness Survey underscores what we’ve always believed—skiing is more than a sport; it’s a lifestyle that fosters joy, health, and togetherness. Moms want to spend more time playing outside in the snow, and we need to make it easier for them to raise the next generation of skiers and riders,” said Nicole Feliciano, Momtrends Media Founder.
