Mammoth Mountain in California is celebrating its 60th Anniversary with the re-opening of its smaller neighbour June Mountain (which it owns), improvements to its terrain parks and it’s new designation as an Olympic training ground for the US Team.
Mammoth’s Unbound Playgrounds and Adventure Zones, which offer a comfortable introduction to terrain parks for beginners and children, will have some additional interactive elements this winter, adding to the terrain park’s fun and approachable features.
Big Bird and the Cookie Monster will rule in The Playground section of the park, which will have a Sesame Street West theme this winter, providing the ideal location for kids to discover the sport.
June Mountain will re-open with full winter operations for the 2013-14 season, following a year of closure, with an onus on providing a family friendly experience and facilities for entry-level skiers and snowboarders.
Finally, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association has named Mammoth Mountain as an Official Training Ground for U.S. Freeskiing and U.S. Snowboarding, where the top skiers and snowboarders in the country will prepare for the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.
