The numbers of first time skiers or boarders in England, or those returning to winter sports, who have taken part in lessons at an English dry ski slope or indoor snow centre remain strong, according to the latest stats revealed by Snowsport England.

Figures show that in January and February 2015, 14,537 people took part in a GO SKI GO BOARD session at slopes and clubs across England and that 12,994 of those people took a GO SKI GO BOARD course that was 5 hours or longer.

This appears to be an increase on the 2014 figure which show that in the entire year 19,350 people were involved in a one off GO SKI GO BOARD session of which 17,606 took a course 5 hours or longer.

Swadlincote Ski Slope and Snowboard Centre in Derbyshire has reported its busiest ever winter,

“Our centre has been busy all winter with people getting ready for their snowsports holidays before going away, and we are delighted that this has been one of our busiest ever winter seasons,” said Centre Manager Kelly Grewcock, “As well as a good uptake for skiing and snowboarding, some milder weather has also helped the other slope activities like sno-tubes and tobogganing.”

GO SKI GO BOARD, which is supported by Tirol, will continue to run this Spring and Summer.
