Glaciers Open in Austria Canada & Italy

Glaciers in Canada and Italy re-open today Saturday, 28th June and the Kitzsteinhorn above Kaprun in Austria is scheduled to re-open for a three week opening.

At Breuil-Cervinia, on the Italian and Swiss slopes of the Plateau Rosà Glacier, the lifts re-open again for a two month summer ski and snowboarding season that lasts to the end of August.

The area, at 3,480 metres above sea level, has 23km of slopes where the snow remains white has a 310cm base when last open in early May. And it has snowed but not been much below freezing since.  A one day adult pass is 44 Euros.

Across the Atlantic and across North America the Blackcomb glacier will re-open for summer skiing and boarding too with operating hours are from 12-3pm daily for a five week season through July.

Public upload begins from 11am daily at the Wizard Express which is located at the base of Blackcomb Mountain.  A summer glacier ticket is available which includes shuttle bus service to and from 7th Heaven and access to public lanes and public terrain park features (main lanes are reserved for those in one of the many private summer camps)..

“ Ski and Snowboard ability level should be advanced to expert and must be able to ride on T-Bars. There is no chair lift on the glacier,” said a Whistler statement.
