Aerials Europa Cup win for Lloyd Wallace (pictured above) marks first ever for Great Britain, 2nd place in overall Europa Cup for Ellie Koyander after taking gold today, 2nd overall in the Slalom Europa Cup for Dave Ryding and podiums for Aimee Fuller and Billy Morgan at Spring Battle

There was a first for Great Britain over the weekend, as Aerials skier Lloyd Wallace won the Aerials Europa Cup yesterday in Airolo, Switzerland. In a strong field of athletes from Switzerland, Russia, Belarus and USA, Lloyd logged a personal best score, his first ever Europa Cup podium, and the first ever Europa Cup win for Great Britain in Aerials.

“I made a small mistake in Saturday’s competition, but I knew I had it in me for the second event. Everything went perfectly and it’s the best feeling in the world!” said Lloyd’s, who’s sister Elodie Wallace also performed well, finishing with two 6th places in the two competitions on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday Lloyd finished in 9th position.

After some fantastic performances in Europa Cup competitions this season, Moguls skier Ellie Koyander secured second place in the Moguls Europa Cup overall title for the 2014/15 season, after her 7th podium finish of the season today with a 1st place finish in the Dual Moguls in Are, Sweden. This followed a second place finish in the Single Moguls in Are yesterday. This is a phenomenal result for Ellie.

Today was the last race in Dave Ryding’s Europa Cup season. The race in Kranjska Gora saw Dave finishing in 9th position, meaning he secures 2nd place in the overall Europa Cup Slalom standings, matching his position from last season. Dave just missed out on top spot to Riccardo Tonetti from Italy. He will now take a rest ahead of next week’s Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships in Tignes where he will be looking to defend his Slalom title. Dave Ryding was also joined by team mate Nick Moynihan a couple of days earlier in the Kranjska Gora World Cup,with Nick competing in both the GS and SL, however unfortunately neither were able to make a result at this event.

The weekend’s success continued in Flachau, Austria with a second place for GB Park and Pipe’s Billy Morgan at Spring Battle and a third place for Aimee Fuller. Jamie Nicholls was close to a podium position as well, securing sixth place in the international competition. Aimee will now head to the world-renowned Nine Queens Nine Knights competition in Austria to compete alongside GB Park and Pipe team mates Jenny Jones and Katie Summerhayes.

In Megeve, it was the Ski Cross World Cup Finals for Liz Stevenson. In the two finals, Liz took 14th place on Friday, and put in a better performance on Saturday, finishing 11th  in the final World Cup event of the year.

At the Speed Skiing World Cup in Sun Peaks, Canada, Jan Farrell took 12th place in Friday’s race in the S1 class. This puts him 8th overall in the World Cup standings.?

The FS Masters Cup took place in Val Thorens over the weekend with a strong showing from the British Masters contingent. Great Britain saw four age group podiums between Colin Tucker and Simon Butler, and two top 10 overrall spots for Judy Reid.

In the SG race on Friday 13th, Simon Bucker place 3rd in his age group – the A5 category – and a 13th place finish overall, whilst Colin Tucker finished 3rd in his age group – the B8 category – and 21st overall. In the ladies’ SG race, Judy Reid finished 10th overall. In the GS on Saturday, Judy placed 10th again, with Simon Butler taking third spot on the podium in his age group and 16th overall.
