Chamonix is the home to a new generation Doppelmayr ‘D’ line gondola systems, replacing the old Flégère cable car.
This mono cable lift is the first of its kind to be installed in France and is designed to reach a fast speed of seven metres per second.
Cabins on the new lift seat ten, meaning capacity of the route increases more than four-fold from the 450 persons/hour of the old cable car which dated back more than 60 years, to 2000 persons/hour with the new lift.
As part of this new development, there’s an all new base station with a contemporary design and digital functionality.
The 300m2 building includes an information area, express purchase terminals and an ‘experiential space’ containing scenic screens highlighting all of the Mont Blanc Natural Resort sites.
For added customer comfort there is also a waiting area in the lobby, with a cosy corner and coffee truck.
