The final episode of the worldwide TV hit Top Gear from the BBC to star the trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond involved filming on the indoor snow slope at Tamworth SnowDome.

In the final show, shown on the last Sunday of June but filmed in November 2014, the three presenters are given a budget of £250 each to buy an old 4×4 and then compete against each other in a series of challenges, including driving up the slope in Tamworth, one of the world’s oldest indoor snow centres.

“They filmed here in early November and staff at the centre had to keep it top secret. Of course, at the time when they were filming, there was an audience gathering anyway but we did not know when it would be screened,” Tamworth SnowDome’s marketing manager, Isabelle Chadbourne, told the Tamworth Herald newspaper.

The Tamworth Snowdome is no stranger to having cars driven on its slopes and has been a venue for UK launches of a number of cars over the years, particularly where the manufacturer has been keen to show how well their vehicles perform in snowy conditions.
