Cashless Ski Shop

A second-hand shop in the French ski resort of Les Angles in the Pyrenees is operating entirely free of charge.

Known as the “Shop For Nothing” the Volunteer-run store opens twice weekly and was initially set up to promote recycling and exchange, but has grown into something more.

“The spirit of giving instead of throwing away is more relevant than ever. With the rise in prices of goods, whether furniture or clothing, anyone can come and find what they need for nothing here,” explains Dominique, one of the volunteers, adding, “At the start of winter seasonal workers come to furnish their accommodation. Everyone can bring what they no longer want or come and get what they need.”

The store offers everything, but childcare equipment, kitchen utensils, household appliances and books are particularly popular.
