Canada & USA Snow Report and Forecast to December 16, 2017

It’s a mixed picture in North America over the past week.

The best news was probably in Utah and the North West which had been suffering from warm, dry weather.  50cm of fresh snow across the region transformed conditions, with Alta pictured above this week.

However the snow did not make it too far in to Colorado, Winter Park (below) got a good snowfall but more southerly areas like Crested Butte and Telluride still need a good snowfall to really get their seasons started.

In the East temperatures are low and in the Midwest too, which got off to an early start but then had a warm spell, it is cooler again and bases here are generally around the metre mark on upper runs.

North of the border conditions are getting a little more normal after the high humidity of last week.  Temperatures have dropped to double digits below in parts of Alberta and BC so not much snow but then bases are good already and the cold weather keeps the snow in good shape.  Lake louise, which has about 100 runs open, is pictured below.
