Renting a Courchevel chalet for a quarter of a million Euros over New Year is all very well, but to really show your class, why not consider renting an entire palace for CHF50,000 a day?
Not any old palace either, but the century-old, world-famous and exceptionally luxurious beyond-5★ Gstaad Palace in the iconic Swiss resort.
The hotel is available to rent in its entirety on certain dates in the ski season (8–12 December and 15–18 December 2014 as well as 15–22 March 2015 this winter) with a minimum stay of two nights required.
So what do you get apart from the run of the hotel to yourself?
Well, the ‘Rent-a-Palace’ private-use package includes the use of all 100 bedrooms, the services of five restaurants and the hotel’s other facilities all for your personal use. They even throw in breakfast and free wi-fi. If you do want to bring anyone else along there are meeting rooms for up to 300 people.
If the dates don’t suit, the Palace has a further new attraction this winter. The hotel’s remarkable Penthouse Suite (which is ‘subject to request’ when you rent the full hotel) has been fully refurbished and reopens for the season on 19th December 2014.
A world of ultimate splendour spread over 240 m2, every detail of The Penthouse Suite is designed to add a little something special. There’s space in abundance in one of the largest penthouse suites in the Alps (possibly the largest), which despite its size provides a cosy atmosphere with an inviting fireplace.
Located on the roof of the Palace, the suite – which was originally constructed over the course of two off-seasons via helicopter access – comprises three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and steam baths, spacious dining and living areas and even a kitchenette. It also has private access with an elevator and a sauna nestled inside one of the hotel’s turrets, and a rooftop Jacuzzi boasting exceptional views of the surrounding mountains.
It has been completely refurbished by interior designer Marina Nickels – renovating it in her signature style of natural colours and with her penchant for creating intimate elegant spaces reminiscent of a private residence. The Penthouse Suite rates are between CHF9950 and CHF15960 per night.
Penthouse suite guests can also make use of the hotel’s newest team member, the Gstaad Palace Ski Butler, who begins work this winter.
The Ski Butler (whose services are available to all Palace guests) will greet guests on the mountaintop with a hamper filled with delectable sweet treats, savoury snacks and cheeses. After finding a suitable spot to sit down he’ll serve a sumptuous slopeside picnic accompanied by chilled champagne or warming glühwein.
