Austrian ski areas are, on the whole, in the best shape of all the ski areas in the Alps, as they’ve had the most fresh snow over the past fortnight.
The snow is still falling too, and whilst resorts like Saalbach (video below) and Flachau have had about two metres of snow since it started back in the first few days of January, another 70cm is forecast in the Arlberg over the weekend.

After 6 weeks of stalling and if anything declining a bit snow depths are starting to move in the right direction again and in some cases really taking off. At Solden, which has had more than two feet/60cm of snow this week for example the depth on the glacier is now 2.7m/9 feet . Obertauern has 130-180cm after similar 60cm total snowfalls. Mayrhofen, which was one of those particularly struggling now have 1.2m (four feet) ion its higher runs.
