A Colorado resident has skied every month of the year, for ten years, in the famous ski state.

Steve Plummer who lives in the city of Silverthorne clocked up his 120th consecutive month of skiing in September.

Plummer has skied exclusively in Colorado’s summit county, home to some of the world’s highest lift-accessed ski slopes, open from October to June or July most seasons.

Having started in October 2008 he told The Aspen Times that after a long, hot summer he was struggling to find an accessible snow patch to ski on in September until Arapahoe Basin turned on their snowmaking guns earlier than expected (pictured above) so he hiked up to the newly made snow and skied that.

In summer months Plummer has skied at the Woodward summer snow terrain park at copper Mountain and by hiking and biking up to high snow patches remaining at resorts including Breckenridge, Loveland and Copper Mountain

Plummer says his efforts were inspired by the movie “The Endless Summer,” made more than 50 years ago and depicting two surfers searching for the perfect wave and travelling the world in order to surf all seasons. He decided to seek an endless winter.  He told the Aspen Times he never intended to start skiing every month but it just happened.
