Glencoe Announces New Triple Chair

Scotland’s Glencoe ski area has announced it has purchased a triple chairlift which it aims to install, all being well, for the winter after next, 2017/18.

The centre says the Doppelmayr-built lift will be installed in the Plateau area and run from the top of the Access Chair to the base of the Spring Run.

This location would improve access to some of the area’s steeper and more snow-sure terrain.

Glencoe is currently seeking suggestions for names for the chairlift, with “Skyfall Chair”, in recognition to the centre’s proximity to the shooting locations of the final scenes in the last but one Bond movie, a front runner.

Glencoe has one of the longest ski seasons in Scotland and normally re-opens for midsummer skiing on the longest day in late June at the start of summer so that die-hard skiers can ride on large snow patches left on the mountain. It also has a year-round artificial ski slope.
