The Majid Al Futtaim company, which runs Ski Dubai and is currently completing Ski Egypt, has announced its third indoor snow centre will be in one of two new malls it plans to construct in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Mall of Saudi will be the larger of the two and is described by the company as a “fully integrated lifestyle destination”. It will cover 866,000m2 in a location north of the city and be home to “one of the world’s largest indoor snow parks” – the details of which are yet to be specified.

The ski slope will be completed in the first phase of the development, work on which is set to commence by mid-2017 and be completed by 2022, the company says.

The Dubai-based company is investing SR14 billion (£2.65 billion) in the projects, which will bring the total number of Majid Al Futtaim owned and operated malls to more than 20 across the Middle East and North Africa.

Riyadh already has a small indoor snow slope, “Snow Magic Riyadh”, which began operating in 2006 and may still be operational.
