British Ski and Board Athletes Tackle 6 World Cups in 4 Days

Today marks the start of the Ski Slopestyle World Cup series with the opening World Cup in Font Romeu, France. With the men’s qualifiers brought forward a day, James ‘Woodsy’ Woods has qualified for the final in 5th place, after making his mark on the competition in his first run. Team mate Cal Sandieson finished in 32nd and Tyler Harding placed 69th. The women’s qualifiers will take place tomorrow with Katie Summerhayes, Izzy Atkin and Madi Rowlands all in action. Finals for both men and women take place on Saturday afternoon.

Fresh from her Big Air World Cup win in Moscow last weekend, GB Park and Pipe snowboarder Katie Ormerod will be looking to continue her form in the opening Slopestyle World Cup this season in Kreischberg, Austria. She will be joined by team mates Aimee Fuller, Billy Morgan, Jamie Nicholls, Matt McCormick and Rowan Coultas, with qualification starting tomorrow.

Delancey British Alpine Team

Delancey British Alpine Team athlete Dave Ryding is back in action on Sunday at the Slalom World Cup in Wengen. With a further two top 15 World Cup finishes last week, Ryding will be looking to continue the form he has been showing this season, with the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships now less than a month away. The first run is at 9.30 GMT, with the second run at 12.30 GMT.

Alex Tilley unfortunately DNF at the Slalom World Cup in Flachau, Austria on Tuesday, with Charlie Guest finishing overall in 57th after missing out on run 2. Alex Tilley will next race in the Far Eastern Cup races in Yongpyong next week.

At the Europa Cup in Davos, Nick Moynihan finished 39th in the Giant Slalom on Monday and DNF on Tuesday. Charlie Raposo DNF run 1 in both races. In Zell am See, Laurie Taylor, and Robert Poth both DNF in yesterday’s Europa Cup Slalom night event, with another Slalom today. Taylor and team mate Billy Major will also join Alex Tilley in Korea next week.

British Nordic

This weekend is the next World Cup for the British Nordic team in Toblach, Italy. Competing for British Nordic is Andrew Young in the Individual Freestyle Sprint on Saturday.

British Aerials

British Aerials skier Lloyd Wallace is back in action this weekend at the World Cup in Lake Placid, USA. He will be looking to better his 17th place finish in the World Cup in Beida Lake, China in December.

British Ski Cross

This weekend sees Emily Sarsfield, Pam Thorburn and Liz Stevenson in action at the World Cup in Watles, Italy, which replaces the Megeve Ski Cross World Cup, which had to be cancelled due to snow conditions. This will follow Sarsfield’s 15th place World Cup finish in Innichen, Italy and marks the opening World Cup races for Pam and Liz this season. Qualification is due to take place on Friday in Watles, with finals on Saturday and Sunday.

Today sees the first of two days of racing at the Europa Cup in Val Thorens, France. Emma Peters finished her first race in 12th place with Scott Garvie and Ollie Davies in 55th and 56th place respectively. For all the information on British Ski and Snowboard visit www.teambss.org.uk.
