Zell am See-Kaprun is to run what the Austrian resort describes as “a great and unique combination of golfing and skiing,” later this spring.

The Ski & Golf World Championship will begin with a skiing competition on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier above Kaprun (and pictured above) on Thursday, 11th May, before moving on to the golf course on Friday and Saturday.

“Both challenges are going to be counted together – so you’ve no chance if you are only good in one of the disciplines,” said a spokesperson for the resort.

In previous competitions prominent sports people have taken part in the contest, including Kalle Palander, Bode Miller and Thomas Sykora.

The event begins with a golf practice day and an opening ceremony presented by the Governor of Salzburg Dr. Wilfried Haslauer in the main square of Zell am See at 6pm on Wednesday, 10th May 2017.

There’s the ski competition and more golf practice on the Thursday before the first day of golf competition on the 36 holes Golf course Zell am See-Kaprun, which continues on to Saturday, 13th May 2017 when there’s an Awards and Closing Ceremony from 7pm.
