Where To Ski or Board in France in June 2017

There are no ski areas open in France as we enter June – the only one of the ‘big 4’ Alpine ski nations to have nowhere (with ski lifts) open (for skiers).

That’s due to change in the next few weeks though as first Val d’Isere opens its Pisailles glacier ski area on June 10th for summer skiing followed by Les 2 Alpes on the 23rd (right through to September) and Tignes the next day on the 24th.

These latter two have a couple of the biggest summer glacier ski areas in Europe.

Snow conditions should be good thanks to heavy snowfall in May.  Les 2 Alpes says the snow is lying 2.4m (8 feet) deep on its glacier and posted the picture top on 28th June.

Skiing tends to take place from early morning to early afternoon, then its other mountain sports, or just relaxing by the pool for the rest of the day.
